Rapper Kwaw Kese has slammed Sarkodie and other artistes who have joined the ‘bring back Azonto’ bandwagon.
Sarkodie has started off a campaign to breathe life into Azonto, the Ghanaian music and dance genre that put Ghana on the international map a decade ago. He has asked his fellow artistes to send him songs with an element of Azonto so they could kick off the campaign.
Instead, the campaign has started creating unnecessary bickering as artists like Gasmilla has started claiming ownership of the Azonto, saying their knowledge should have been tapped to shape the concept instead of Sarkodie waiting for him to give him his song for the project.
Gasmilla had Sammy Flex told thus: “I think we should all basically know our worth at this point. If Sarkodie feels too big in his shoes to know who Gasmilla’s contribution to Azonto is, I can’t also just wake up and send him a record.”
He added:” I respect him enough to call his name Sark, she should also respect me enough to know I go fit link Gasmilla up.”Related Post
But Stay J says he’s the real King so the rest should take the back seat so he can do his own thing. In a Twitter post, he said: He said “Whole lotta squad claiming Azonto Kings, chillax guys the true Azonto Hero sef nor talk…wait for the Bomb #ASB#AzontoHero#StayJay“.
From the foregoing, it’s obvious the campaign might soon end up in flames. The rapper has therefore suggested they all come together to advance all aspect of Ghana music instead of one particular genre.
